She turned over thoughtful questions, quality press releases and bad-ass Tweets that I am excited to move forward with. Thank you, A, for your hard work and diligence on this project." The London Youth Games began in the 1970s and in May 2012 the event hosted over 100,000 young people from every London borough who took part in a range of competitive sports. The event boasts sporting alumni such as Rio Ferdinand and Christine Ohuruogo.
The London Youth Games worked with Andrea and her team in 2012, in building a pop-up radio station at the renowned Crystal Palace Park for the weekend event; which was streamed live across the park and to listeners from across the world who connected via the branded Internet radio station which was set up especially for that year’s games.
“Andrea and Ivor worked with the London Youth Games in 2012 with the ambition of creating an on-line and on-site radio station at the finals week of Europe’s largest annual youth sports event. The concept was to give a group of inexperienced but enthusiastic young people a unique opportunity to learn new media skills whilst also enhancing the experience for thousands of young people representing their borough at the London Youth Games. Over a three week period, Andrea and Ivor trained 15 people aged 18-25 to present, produce and edit to create effective radio. They helped create the brand LYG Radio and were constantly on hand to ensure the smooth delivery of the station during the entire four-day broadcast period. At the weekend’s conclusion, we had produced something that met all our goals and created a distinctive voice for our radio station. Andrea and Ivor are committed, skilled, honest and fun to work with.” (Christopher Broadbent, Head of Communications, London Youth Games)
Ruach City Church has been established for over 20 years and is one of Europe’s largest charismatic churches with six locations across London and the US. The church attracts regular visits from loyal and well-known personalities. Ruach City Church wanted Andrea and her team to create an in-house radio studio which was built from scratch at the flagship location, as well as staff training and strategic planning for sustainability and growth.
“I met Andrea just over a year ago as she was setting up Ruach Radio with Ivor Etienne. I was going to be the first radio presenter to speak live on Ruach Radio. Andrea took me through my paces over four weeks, helping me to feel comfortable with the studio as this was my first Radio experience. I learnt mic skills, answering phones live, playing tracks from the library, monitoring output sound for distortion etc I am very comfortable now and more confident in the skills I have gained from Andrea’s teaching. Thank you Andrea for your help.” (Pastor Mark Liburd, Resident Pastor, Walthamstow branch of Ruach City Church)
